Marinho & Araújo was born by the hand of Joaquim Marinho, a professional with wide experience in the textile and clothing industries, who aimed at taking his company to meet the international markets’ highest standards of excellence.
2000
In its first years of activity, the company devoted itself to the manufacture of cotton, polyester, percale, satin, linen, canvas, twill, taffeta and flannel fabrics, among others, in an industrial unit in Vila Nova de Famalicão, where it remained until 2009.
2009
As a result of the experience gained and strong investments, the company moved to Vilarinho, in Santo Tirso, to an industrial area that provided the company with space for the sustained growth of its productive capacity. 2009 marked a substantial improvement of the technical skills of the staff, secured by the recruitment of experts with proven experience in the market and by the continuous training of technical staff and other collaborators.
A new investment was made in the production through the construction of new pavilions for weaving, equipped with state-of-the-art cleaning and climatisation systems. The new industrial facilities now had a patio area of 11,000 square meters and a covered area of 3,500 square meters. Fifteen new Optimax rapier machines manufactured by Picanol were installed in 2015, a clear sign of the wish to invest in the quality of the final product.
2016
The company was sent a new loom developed by Picanol, a state-of-the-art equipment that was being tested for the first time in an industrial environment; this certainly reflects the trust the world’s leading brand in weaving machines places in Marinho & Araújo. After the success of the tests carried out, two new units of the same model were purchased and now operate in harmony with the entire production line.
